PCS-1100 & PCS-1100-40
EXTERIOR/INTERIOR GRADE
HIGH TEMPERATURE ALUMINUM PAINT

DESCRIPTION:  A ready-to-use leafing aluminum paint intended primarily for exterior/interior hot surfaces.  Normally two thin coats provide adequate protection.  Do not use a primer under PCS-1100.  The material is self-priming but not recommended for highly corrosive environments.  Two versions are available: PCS-1100 and PCS-1100-40.  Both products are identical except for their solvent content and viscosity.  Our recommendation is to use PCS-1100.  If application issues arise with runs or sagging of the material, then the use of the higher solids/higher viscosity PCS-1100-40 may be required.

USES:  Boiler shells, stills, high temperature pipes, incinerators, turbine shells. For temperatures up to 1,000oF.

SURFACE PREPARATION:  New steel:  Clean to SSPC-SP2 (Hand Tool Cleaning) or SSPC-SP3 (Power Tool Cleaning).  Apply 1 or 2 coats of PCS-1100 or PCS-1100-40.  Previously Painted Surfaces:  remove any loose and /or scaling paint as well as oil or grease which may be present.  Do not use a conventional metal primer under PCS-1100 or under PCS-1100-40, as these products are not designed for high temperature applications.

MIXING:  Stir well before use, but do not use mechanical shaker as this action may alter the surface of the aluminum flakes and result in a dull, dried mottled film surface.

APPLICATION:  Normally, no solvent reduction is necessary for application.  If required, use a small amount of REDUCER #75 for spray and a small amount of REDUCER #96 for brush.

Apply to surfaces below 140o F to avoid solvent “popping.”  The proper technique is to apply approximately 6 mils wet film per application;  this will dry to approximately 2 mils dry film.  If a second coat is necessary, allow first coat to dry thoroughly before proceeding.  A heavy or uneven coat will result in adhesion failure or blisters due to poor solvent vapor release.

For brush or roller, use as received.  Conventional spray:   DeVilbiss JGA-501 gun, 709 Cap and FX tip, or equivalent, 60 psi automation and 20 psi fluid pressure.  Airless spray:   .015 orifice, 1800-2000 psi fluid pressure.

CLEAN UP:  REDUCER #96 or #75.

CAUTIONS:  Flammable.  This product contains solvents.  Keep away from heat and open flame.  Keep containers closed.  Use with adequate ventilation. Avoid prolonged breathing of vapor. Avoid prolonged or repeated contact with skin.  If used in confined areas, observe the following precautions to prevent hazards of fire, or explosions, or damage to health:  (1) circulate adequate fresh air continuously during application and drying;  (2) use fresh air masks and explosion-proof equipment;  (3) prohibit all flames, sparks, welding, and smoking.

If swallowed, do not induce vomiting.  Call a physician immediately.  For eye contact, flush with plenty of water.  In case of skin contact, wash thoroughly with soap and water.

See material safety data sheets for full precautions prior to use.

PCS-1100 and PCS-1100-40 are intended for INDUSTRIAL USE ONLY.
